Intussen zijn heel wat onder jullie al naar de cinema geweest voor Insurgent. Ik zelf moet nog wachten tot morgen of overmorgen … Maar om toch al een beetje in de sfeer te komen, heb ik mijn oude recensie van Insurgent (het boek!) opgeduikeld in de Mijn B.I.E.B.-archieven. Het is maar een korte recensie, maar wel grappig om terug te lezen wat ik er destijds van vond. Ik las dit boek namelijk al in augustus 2012, eeeeeeuwen geleden dus!

Insurgent (Veronica Roth) ****

I really enjoyed Insurgent, but not for the same reason as most of the fandom does (that reason being Tobias/Four, obviously).

Honestly, for me their so-called romance was the worst part of this novel: the constant (sexual?) tension between them drove me crazy, and not it a good way. Their relationship seems based on lies, secrets and being angry at each other for no apparent reason. They’re both awesome characters on their own, I’m just not sure I get why they’re “in love”.

That being said (and the fangirls being angered), I do like the story. I do! There were plot twists at every page turn and a major cliffhanger at the end that left me slack-jawed. Can’t wait to read book 3!
